Day 3 – Sunday July 5th, 2015

Start Time: 08:45   End Time: 18:10

Miles Hiked: 13.2   Total Miles: 42.7

CT Sections: 3-1.2 > 4-2.2

After hot and painful experiences on Saturday, we felt our efforts warranted extra rest so we slept in until 8:00.  Emmy’s feet still hurt, so at our first break I took a look at her boots and recommended removing the hard plastic portion of her Superfeet inserts.  Emmy’s feet felt much more comfortable after this modification.

We planned to camp at a location 10 miles from our starting point, but upon arrival, there were not good sites so we pressed on into section 4 and weathered our first rain storm.  We took shelter from the rain under tall evergreen trees since we were in a relatively low area and lightning wasn’t present, and waited out the storm for 10 minutes.   Shortly after entering the Lost Creek Wilderness and only 2.2 miles into section 4, we found a great campsite in a flat forested area in close proximity to a stream.  We promptly set up our tent, ate dinner and fell asleep.

  1. LOOKS LIKE A PRETTY AREA TO HIKE THROUGH – ARE THERE LOTS OF WILDFLOWERS? HOME LOOKS QUITE COZY!
HOPE YOU BOTH HAVE HAPPY FEET NOW……..

    • Thanks for the comment! We are spending tonight in Frisco and have access to a computer which is much easier to write on than an iPhone. So far, we have been writing in a paper journal on the trail then writing formal blog updates in town. We chose not to bring a solar charger so we try to conserve charge on our cell phones as much as possible.
